Colors In Optics
Original Vintage Collection
Colors in Optics, Ltd. (CIO) was founded in 1978 by President and Designer Sanford
Hutton. Sanford, a licensed optician, pioneered the use of ‘color’ in the industry
by making a number of classic frames in 25 vibrant colors including cherry red,
cobalt blue, emerald green, and violet etcetera. His implementation of color into
frames revolutionized eyewear. The look was an immediate sensation and was reflected
in the movie “Annie Hall” starring Diane Keaton and “American Gigolo” starring Richard
Gere. This catapulted the Colors in Optics look into a fashion icon. The company
adapted its name because of its innovative and unique process of integrating color
into optical and sun frames.
Today, 30 years later, Colors in Optics, Ltd. is proud to have re-launched the Original
Vintage Collection. By popular demand Colors in Optics, Ltd. is thrilled to bring
back this authentic collection. The frames have the same names as the originals,
featuring the famous "Orfina," "Bespeckled," and "2424." Each frame is accented
with their original nail heads, staying true to the originals in all vibrant colors.
The collection caters to both men and women. Counter cards, original logo plaques,
cases and cleaning cloths are available to support the collection. Each frame is
accompanied by the authentic hang tag from the 1970’s.
